Para Bowling is suitable for people with physical impairment and vision impairment. A precise and stable delivery angle is an essential skill when practicing bowling.
Para Bowling is divided into different classes according to the degree of impairment of the athletes. The Vision Impairment classes include TPB1, TPB2, and TPB3. Athletes in class TPB1 have the weakest vision, while those in class TPB3 have relatively better vision. TPB1 athletes must wear blindfolds during competition and may complete the event with the assistance of specially designed handrails and guides. TPB8 is designated for wheelchair athletes. The standing group is divided into two classes: TPB9 for athletes with lower limb disabilities and TPB10 for athletes with upper limb disabilities.
The governing body for Para Bowling (Physical Impairment) is the International Bowling Federation, with the Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress Limited as its member in Hong Kong, China. The governing body for Para Bowling (Vision Impairment) is the International Blind Sports Federation.
