As a member of World Abilitysport (WA) and the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), we are duty-bound to coordinate a delegation to attend esteemed events such as the World Abilitysport Games and the IBSA World Games.

World Abilitysport Games (every two years)

The World Abilitysport Games are the world’s biggest gathering of athletes with physical disabilities.

Athletes can compete in under 23, open and Masters (over 40 years) categories. All World Abilitysport Games are individually tailored to each Local Organising Committee objectives and resources and can include all or a selection of the traditional Games sports: archery, athletics, powerlifting, shooting, swimming, table tennis, wheelchair fencing, wheelchair rugby, and volleyball. All of the sports are well established on the Paralympic Games programme, offering athletes the chance to experience international competition before they face their peers on the biggest stage of them all.

World Abilitysport Guttmann Games

The Guttmann Games are designed to give athletes with physical impairments competing in non-Paralympic sports the chance to shine on the international stage.

World Abilitysport Youth Games (every two years)

The World Abilitysport Youth Games offers athletes of 23-years-old and under a biennial multi-sport Games and often provides them with their first taste of international competition. The youth Games help the development of young athletes with a physical impairment worldwide, promoting their growth in the different pathways in the Paralympic movement. The unique Games environment, hosted in nations across the globe on an alternate yearly basis, gives young athletes a wider knowledge of team-work and sporting experience as well as a taste of the challenges and discipline required for the Paralympic Games.

World Abilitysport Beach Games

The Games will mark the first Para sport event exclusively for beach, aquatic and open-air disciplines

IBSA World Games (every four years)

Beginning in 1998 in Madrid, Spain, the IBSA World Games have become the world’s biggest sport event for athletes with visual impairments.

With various names over the years including the ‘World Blind Sports Championships’ and ‘IBSA World Championships and Games’, the multi-sport competition is held every four years.

The World Games are a chance for new and established athletes to compete against a strong field of their peers in both Paralympic and non-Paralympic sports. Many athletes who competed have gone on to win medals at the Paralympic Games, or reach the highest heights of success elsewhere. The programme features a wide and varied range of sports which changes with each edition. In the past even alpine skiing and biathlon have made an appearance. However the IBSA governed sports form the core of events. Goalball, judo and blind football competition are usually qualifiers for the Paralympic Games.
